Robert W. Deutsch Foundation Hosts Digital Equity Showcase
On November 10, 2022, the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation hosted a Baltimore Digital Equity Showcase. The event featured grantees from our digital equity portfolio who spoke about the digital equity work they were leading; examples included the development of a technology hub, expanding connectivity to outdoor spaces, renovating technology for maker spaces, and more.
Francella Ochillo, Executive Director of Next Century Cities, provided opening remarks emphasizing the significance of local leadership in the digital equity space and the importance of empowering residents to continue nurturing and investing in their communities. Later, local leaders spoke about their plans for the state broadband funding they received through grant programs such as the Connect Maryland Initiative, Maryland Emergency Education Relief Grant, Maryland Digital Inclusion Grant, and more.
